The Owode Egba Police Division has arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalizing and stealing cable wires and iron rods in the Ogunmakin area of Ogun State.
The suspects, Agbo Jeremiah, 34, and Sunday Ngbuta, 29, were apprehended around 7 p.m. on Monday.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest to DAILY POST on Tuesday, stating it followed a tip from the driver transporting the suspects and the stolen items.
According to Odutola, officers flagged down the vehicle based on the information, leading to the suspects’ arrest and the recovery of the stolen goods.
Earlier that day, operatives from Safer Highway had reported encountering two individuals carrying rolls of cable wires and iron rods near Macpherson University. The men’s request for help in carrying the items raised suspicions they were stolen.
“The Owode Egba divisional police officer arrested the suspects for conspiracy and vandalism of IBEDC wires and iron,” Odutola explained.
She added that upon reaching the Ogunmakin overhead bridge, the driver alerted the police, who then stopped the vehicle.
Upon questioning, the suspects were unable to explain the origin of the items. They are now under interrogation, and further investigation is ongoing.
